The Billys is a community of hundreds of open-hearted gay, bi and queer men who join together in Gatherings six times a year in extraordinary rural venues throughout Northern California. Each gathering is a work of art, carefully crafted by Billys to take us to places of joy and playfulness, intimacy and openness. We come together to play games, hike, make yummy food, play music, cuddle, meditate, frolic, do yoga, and learn from each other.
The crown jewel of nearly every Billy gathering is something we call Heart Circle – a time to share what’s on our hearts and listen with an open heart. It is the juice that has kept our community going since 1988. Between gatherings, some Billys meet for potlucks and Heart Circles, for hikes or to help each other out, to do fundraising or to attend cultural events together.
Our New Year gathering is a great time to focus on internal dialogue, plans for the future, and introspection. Held Dec. 27 – Jan. 1, at St. Dorothy’s Rest. Billys and Billy Kin welcome.
We start this year with our Mid Winter gathering, a themed workshop-style event, Feb. 27 – March 2, 2014.
Traditionally, our May Day gathering is a time for a fabulous May Pole ritual, reconnecting with nature, and celebrating the return of luxurious Spring. Held May 1 – 4, 2014 at Saratoga Springs.
Eating, swimming and frolicking in the woods are only half the story. What goes on behind every gathering is a community of people offering their vision and talents to create these magical events. The payoff? Being part of an intentional community and sharing one’s unique skills and open heart.
